Embrace all Marvel fans, this evening Marvel president Kevin Feige gave official confirmation on what talented soul will bring the legendary and vivacious Black Panther to life.
Ryan Coogler (Creed) has been selected as the director for marvel’s Black Panther. Joining him for this ride will be the already cast Chadwick Boseman (42) who will be putting on the first ever live action mask as T’Challa / Black Panther.
This film will be an entry in Marvel’s “Phase Three” of their cinematic universe. Boseman will first appear in this summer’s Captain America: Civil War, which will be released on May 6th, 2015.
With both Creed and Fruitvale Station being slam dunks at the box office, this young director definitely has the moxy to be a great. Black Panther will help him most certainly get there faster. It was just announced earlier this evening that MGM is hoping to have a Creed 2 in theaters in November of 2017, hopefully Coogler will be able to do both.
It is unclear at this point and time if Andy Serkis (Planet of the Apes series), who made an appearance in 2015’s sequel, Avengers: Age of Ultron as the villainous Ulysses Klaw will return or even be the villain of the standalone film.
With a script from Joe Robert Cole, the film will open in theaters on February 16th, 2018.
