Darling Makes His Move – Review of “THE BOUNCE” #9

Bounce-09-coverThe mysterious Mister Darling is gaining more of the knowledge he seeks…and what is his next move?  That’s what we find in another strange and wonderful issue of “THE BOUNCE”.  This series continues to take the reader’s brain and fold it like origami paper…wow!

Darling is getting some interesting results from his examination of the bodies of some of his experiments…but he wants more.  The fight is on over the body of one more victim, and the Bounce is right in the middle of everything!  Meanwhile, Darling is meeting with the military leaders who have helped his research…and he has a surprise in store.  We learn more about what Darling has been doing, the nature of his abilities and his connection to another character in this tale, and then…you’ll have to read the issue to see the rest.

Joe Casey takes reality and the concepts of time and space and throws them into a blender…coming up with a mind-bending story that is exceptionally entertaining.  The illustrations are stunning, ably conveying the strangeness of a story that lives between realities.  David Messina handles the pencils, Gaetano Carlucci is on inks, Giovanna Niro handles the colors, and Sonia Harris provides graphic design and story consults.  This is a great creative team and an excellent, if very strange book – and that’s the point.  If you want something well off the beaten path that is hugely entertaining, don’t miss “THE BOUNCE”!
