Pressed to the 9s: TIME & VINE, ALTERS

Our Rating

Welcome back to PRESSED TO THE 9’s, our look at some of the best indie comics available at your comic shop NOW! This week you’ll find TIME & VINE #4 from IDW, and ALTERS #7 from Aftershock! Let’s get started with…

TIME & VINE #4 (IDW) – Thom Zahler’s stories are the most heartwarming in comics. I can’t get enough of Zahler’s books! TIME & VINE is a beautiful story with a unique twist on time-travel…and a wonderful conclusion to the arc (can we have more?). Zahler both writes and illustrates TIME & VINE with colors by Luigi Anderson. 9/10

ALTERS #7 (Aftershock) – Chalice finally meets the homeless mom who is going through her own alteration. Her story, much like Chalice’s, is treated with the utmost care and respect by writer Paul Jenkins, making this an even more compelling tale. Having so much amazing power, and yet being so powerless to provide for your family is a hard thing to take, and this story brings that feeling home in no uncertain terms. The artwork by Leila Leiz (colors by Leonardo Pacciarotti) continues to be outstanding 9/10

That’s it for our Pressed to the 9’s list for this week…don’t miss out on The 10 Spot and The Great 8s to see more of the very best in indie comics!
