Our Rating

Welcome back to PRESSED TO THE 9’s, our look at some of the best indie comics available at your comic shop NOW! This week you’ll find INFINITE SEVEN #4 from Action Lab’s Danger Zone imprint, along with SONS OF THE DEVIL #12 and REGRESSION #1, both from Image! Let’s get started with…

INFINITE SEVEN #4 (Action Lab/Danger Zone) – This action/adventure title has quickly proven that it is no formula book. No one…and I mean NO ONE is truly safe in this series, as you may well find in this issue. What the new Smash Brannigan learns in this issue is both shocking and costly…and it takes the series in a whole new and exciting direction. This has quickly become a favorite title.  Written by Dave Dwonch and illustrated by Arturo Mesa (with colors by Geraldo Filho), this is a must-read series for any action/adventure fan. 9/10

SONS OF THE DEVIL #12 (Image) – Even after all these years, a promise is a promise…and David has promised to sacrifice all of his children to the devil! He is slowly “gathering” them, while the race is on to stop him. We learn more about David’s background…and we see a shocking twist at the end of this issue that should drive the next chapters into high gear. This has been an amazing look into the seedier side of faith, into cult behavior mixed with a twist of true evil. Brian Buccellato continues to deliver outstanding stories, matched by the brilliance of Toni Infante’s art (with color assists by Mado Pena). 9/10

REGRESSION #1 (Image) – Cullen Bunn has a masterful approach to the horror genre, and we see that once again in REGRESSION. Adrian has been having hallucinations that are beyond anything a normal, sane mind could stand. What’s the cause? Adrian is finally willing to try hypnosis…but what will he find in his own regression? That’s the jumping off point for this series…and it looks to be another amazing tale by Cullen Bunn, with excellent (if horrific) artwork by Danny Luckert (with colors and letters by Marie Enger). 9/10

That’s it for our Pressed to the 9’s list for this week…don’t miss out on our 10 SPOT and GREAT 8’s lists to see more of the very best in indie comics!
