Possible New Character in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2: Darkhawk

With the newest Guardians of the Galaxy vol. 2 trailer still one day away, we may have got an early teaser of a new character.  Amazon.com has created a new store front for Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy vol. 2 merchandise in anticipation of it’s May 5th release date.  However, Io9 first discovered something a little off with the store front.  Not only did it have a selection box for the main confirmed Guardians but there was an additional character, Darkhawk

Who the heck is Darkhawk?  Darkhawk is parent Drake Mallard who dresses as a masked vigilante to protect St. Canard.  Wait, that is Darkwing Duck.  Darkhawk is even more obscure than that.  Darkhawk is actually a New Yorker by the name of Christopher Powell.  Powell discovered an amulet that allows him to switch places with a powerful flying Android, equipped with energy blasts.  Naturally Powell vowed to only use the amulet for good and never follow his corrupt father down the wrong path. Darkhawk first appeared in Darkhawk #1 and was created by Tom DeFalco and Mike Manley.

Merchandise spoilers happen more often than realized and are often just marketing mistakes that hold little weight.  However, Darkhawk is such a deep pull from that Marvel database that it has to make you wonder if this was just a mislabel or an accidental reveal on Amazon’s part. Darkhawk has been connected with multiple super teams in the Marvel U but not the Guardians of the Galaxy.

This may be nothing or we may get a peak of Darkhawk in tomorrows GOTG vol. 2 trailer.

With great power comes great responsibility, which is why I read and write about comics. Beats running around in spandex.
