Nightwing swings onto the Big Screen with Chris McKay to Direct

The most famous butt in comic books may be coming to the big screen.  Today The Hollywood Reporter reported that Warner Bros is planning to make a feature starring DC’s Nightwing.  Lego Movie Director Chris McKay is said to be in negotiations to direct the project.  Don’t worry this is said to be live action. The writer of The Accountant, Bill Dubuque is said to be writing the script.  This is big news coming in the wake of The Batman finding a new director.  One can only wonder if this means The Batman will have a plot that revolves around another Robin and explains the costume in Batman vs. SupermanA Death in the Family /Under the Red Hood maybe?

Nightwing is a vigilante crime fighter without superpowers.  His secret identity is Dick Grayson, who is better known as the original Robin.  Dick Grayson lost his acrobatic parents in a tragic event leaving Bruce Wayne/Batman to raise him.  Eventually DC felt Robin had received enough training from Batman and it was time to have him grow up and become his own hero.  Nightwing goes on to lead the Teen Titans, The Titans as well as go out on his own.  He protects both Gotham and Blüdhaven and his even donned the cowl of Batman.  Robin was first featured in Detective Comics #38 in 1940  and was created by Bob Kane, Bill Finger and Jerry Robinson.  Nightwing is currently being written by Tim Seeley and drawn by Minkyu Jung, Marcio Takara, and Marcus To.

With great power comes great responsibility, which is why I read and write about comics. Beats running around in spandex.
