Matt Reeves to officially Direct The Batman

This afternoon Warner Bros has officially announced in a press release that Cloverfield Director, Matt Reeves will be Ben Affleck’s replacement as the Director of upcoming film, The  Batman.  Reeves has been rumored in and out for the position of over a week now, following Ben Affleck’s decision to step down from the job.  Reeves will also take on the role of producer.

Reeves official statement was, “I have loved the Batman story since I was a child. He is such an iconic and compelling character, and one that resonates with me deeply. I am incredibly honored and excited to be working with Warner Bros. to bring an epic and emotional new take on the Caped Crusader to the big screen.”

The Batman may be Warner Bros final chance to find success among the Zack Snyder DC Universe.  Especially if this Summer’s release of Wonder Woman isn’t met with open arms by critics.

With great power comes great responsibility, which is why I read and write about comics. Beats running around in spandex.
