Fox’s Marvel feature, Logan, has become the top opening domestic film of 2017. With $85.3 million domestically and $240.8 Million Worldwide, Jackman and Stewart F-Bomb their way to being the 4th largest debut for an R-rated film. Logan only fell short behind The Merc with a mouth (Deadpool- $132.4 million), John Wick before he was John Wick (The Matrix Reloaded – $91.8 million) and Bradley Cooper’s Chris Kyle (American Sniper- $89.3 million). Keeping with the theme of 4, Logan also nabbed the 4th highest March debut of all time behind Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice ($166 million), The Hunger Games ($152.5 million) and Alice in Wonderland ($116.1 million).
Between the high amount of critic acclaim and the fact that this is Jackman and Stewarts X-Men Swan Song, it is not surprising that this film had the highest opening among the Wolverine trilogy. Logan is currently sitting at an impressive 93% fresh on Rotten Tomatoes and a strong 77 on the more accurate Metacritic. Regardless of what ranking site you prefer, it is obvious that the fans have spoken this weekend judging by the amount of seats they filled.
