X-Men producer Simon Kinberg has been busy keeping Fox’s Marvel Properties from being buried in the Headlines by all the Star Wars and DC news floating around. This time Kinberg and fellow producer Hutch Parker (Fantastic Four) told ComicBook.com how Fox decided to expand their movie roster with untapped comic teams that they have current rights to.
“We have a sense of where each of all of the existing characters go from Deadpool to New Mutants to the mainland X-Men movies to potentially even X-23,” Kinberg said. “Then, there’s other characters, like Alpha Flight, like Exiles… There’s a lot of characters to mine going forward. We’re still sort of in this phase where now we’ve completed the Wolverine story with Logan and we begin hopefully with New Mutants and eventually Gambit and continue with Deadpool.”
Kinberg and Parker also told ComicBook.com that they would love to visit another Fantastic Four movie with the same cast. They are however aware of the criticism the last movie received and would take any future Fantastic Four film closer to the original roots of the comic book series.
Many fans would love to see Fox expand past X-Men, Deadpool and The New Mutants. These two comic teams would allow that.
Alpha Flight is an all Canadian super team created by John Byrne and first appeared in X-Men #120. The notable team members consist of Guardian, Northstar, Aurora, Sasquatch, Shaman, Snowbird, Marrina and Puck. They work closely with fellow Canuckle Head, Wolverine. Unfortunately now that Logan is complete, Hugh Jackman is hanging up his claws and will most likely not be tied to this project if it happens.
The Exiles are a team of rotating Marvel characters from different dimensions or realities working to correct issues in the time space continuum. The were created by Judd Winick and Mike McKone and first appeared in Exiles #1. The original team consisted of some version of the following members: Blink, Nocturne, Morph, Thunderbird, Mimic and Magnus (Magneto, quickly replaced by Sunfire).
