The first film outside of the eposodic Star Wars Saga, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, hit all the right notes and was perfectly nestled into a part of the story that took place a long time ago. As a successful test to see how well a one-shot film would work, they moved on and green lit their next anthology film, Han Solo. The film will take place in Solo’s younger days starring Alden Ehrenreich as the scruffy nerf herder and Donald Glover who will be a young Lando Calrissian. In addition to Emilia Clarke, Michael K. WIlliams, & Thandie Newton, Woody Harrelson has snagged a role that the man himself revealed a bit about on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
“I play a guy named Beckett who’s kind of a criminal and a mentor to Han”
Aside from the name, most of us had already assumed the old guy was gonna be playing a smuggling mentor to Han. If this film follows Star Wats tradition, then the old mentor will not likely make it out alive. Rumor has it that this film will show us the fateful game of Sabac that awarded Han Lando’s Millenium Falcon, but I’m intrested in just how Harrelson’s “Beckett” becomes Han’s mentor. Does he find Han at young age and show him the ropes as part of his crew, or will he talk the young Imperial Cadet into leaving the Empire and saving Chewies ass in the process? We’ve got plenty of time to speculate and come up with our own theroies while patiently awaiting Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi.
