Our Rating

Welcome back to The Great 8s – our look at 8/10 rated indie comics you’ll find at your comic shop NOW! This week you’ll find DOCTOR WHO: THE TWELFTH DOCTOR ADVENTURES YEAR THREE #5 from Titan and VAMPIRELLA #4 from Dynamite! Let’s get started with…

DOCTOR WHO: THE TWELFTH DOCTOR ADVENTURES YEAR THREE #5 (Titan) – “The Wolves of Winter” begins here, as the Twelfth Doctor and Bill visit the Vikings of old…but of course there is a threat that is very, shall we say, alien to them all. It’s a great start with both humor and danger (what else would you expect from an adventure with the Doctor?). Richard Dinnick scripts the story, with art by Brian Williamson and colors by Hi-Fi. 8/10

VAMPIRELLA #4 (Dynamite) – Vampi’s story takes a serious turn downward, and to a possible deal with the…you get the idea, right? Vampirella has been in a time that is so strange to her, but she is finally about to learn some of the story behind all those mysterious changes. Will she accept the deal? Does she have a better idea? This is a great presentation of Vampirella, placing her in an unusual time and situation but still bringing out the qualities that have made her such an iconic character. Paul Cornell writes and Jimmy Broxton illustrates. 8/10
