The Great 8s: KID SHERLOCK, LUMBERJANES

Our Rating

Welcome back to The Great 8s – our look at 8/10 rated indie comics you’ll find at your comic shop NOW! This week you’ll find KID SHERLOCK #3 from Action Lab, and LUMBERJANES #41 from BOOM! Box! Let’s get started with…

KID SHERLOCK #3 (Action Lab) – Sherlock has a brother…even Kid Sherlock has a brother…and we meet him in this issue! Yes, all the cases have to do with the cares and concerns of (excuse me) elementary school kids – but that’s the genius of this warm-hearted all-ages book! This is a great book for kids, and adults will enjoy the almost Highlights-esque features on “how to draw” in each issue. Justin Phillips writes and letters KID SHERLOCK, with art by Sean Gregory Miller (with colors by Lesley Atlansky). 8/10

LUMBERJANES #41 (BOOM! Box) – Ever wished that a summer vacation would never end? Time has always moved in strange ways at Miss Qiunzella Thiskwin Penniquiqul Thistle Crumpet’s Camp for Hardcore Lady Types, explaining how we can be 41 issues into this amazing series while still experiencing one trip to summer camp.  Now, we see the Lumberjanes trying to find out just why that is, why time passes so…strangely. It’s another great issue for LUMBERJANES, written by Shannon Watters & Kat Leyh, illustrated by Ayme Sotuyo, and colored by Maarta Laiho. 8/10
