Our Rating

Welcome back to The Great 8s – our look at 8/10 rated indie comics you’ll find at your comic shop NOW! This week you’ll find INFINITE LOOP: NOTHING BUT THE TRUTH #2 from IDW, ACTIONVERSE: FEATURING STRAY #2 from Action Lab, and LUMBERJANES #43 from BOOM! Box! Let’s get started with…

INFINITE LOOP: NOTHING BUT THE TRUTH #2 (IDW) – After the amazing first arc of INFINITE LOOP, the world has changed…but things are still tough for the people known as “anomalies”. Maybe the desire to destroy them all has changed, but they are being treated as little better than animals, and Teddy is working outside the law to make this right. Her partner has become the first anomaly to be elected to Congress, and she is fighting within the system…but neither she nor Teddy are having much luck. However, neither one is willing to yield…and that’s how this story becomes so outstanding. Written by Pierrick Colinet & Elsa Charretier and illustrated by Daniele Di Nicuolo (with colors by Sarah Stern), INFINITE LOOP continues to be must-read material! 8/10

ACTIONVERSE: FEATURING STRAY #2 (Action Lab) – I’ve been a fan of Stray since his first appearance, and this continuing story in the Actionverse makes him all the most compelling. We are going back in time to Stray’s time as the sidekick to his father, when he joined with other young heroes to find…a lot of trouble, and an altogether different group of powered teens! What’s going on here? That’s the mystery that makes this story outstanding! Written by Vito Delsante, with art by Sean Izaakse, Carlos Cabaleiro, Lee Gaston, and Wilson Ramos, Jr., this remains one of the best teen team-up books out today! 8/10

LUMBERJANES #43 (BOOM! Box) – LUMBERJANES has basically told the passage of time to get bent…and it has  bent, twisted, and turned inside-out! What’s going on here with the bubbles? And, what’s happened to the camp? This series continues to make the strange and quirky into something beautiful and amazing, and it is easily one of the most entertaining titles on the comic shop shelves. Written by Shannon Watters & Kat Leyh and illustrated by Ayme Sotuyo with colors by Maarta Laiho, this issue is another great chapter! 8/10
