The Great 8s: I HATE FAIRYLAND, TENTH DOCTOR

Our Rating

Welcome back to The Great 8s – our look at 8/10 rated indie comics you’ll find at your comic shop NOW! This week you’ll find I HATE FAIRYLAND #12 from Image, and DOCTOR WHO: THE TENTH DOCTOR YEAR THREE #4 from Titan! Let’s get started with…

I HATE FAIRYLAND #12 (Image) – Gert is on the path to redemption – fat lot of good THAT will do ya, huh? Yes, she is trying to redeem herself while doing some sweet ninja moves (or is that Samurai? Whatever…). Don’t try to question this storyline, just “shut your fluffing cigar-sucker” and enjoy the ride! This is one my favorite guilty pleasures in comics today – so wrong and yet so absolutely fun to read! The story and art are by the amazing Skottie Young, with colors by Jean-Francois Beaulieu. 8/10

DOCTOR WHO: THE TENTH DOCTOR YEAR THREE #4 (Titan) – This is a perfect Doctor Who story, with time and reality folding in on itself and telling common sense where to get off. The Doctor and Gabby are here to save Cindy…and Cindy…and Cindy…and…you get the idea. How to stop that red version of the TARDIS is another matter entirely (but there is a real connection here). It’s a great story once again by writer Nick Abadzis, with art by Giorgia Sposito and colors by Arianna Florean. 8/10

That’s it for the Great 8’s – also check out our 10 SPOT and PRESSED TO THE 9’s lists for more of the best in indie comics today!
