The search and anticipation has finally ended, Fox’s Deadpool 2 has it’s Cable. THR originally reported that Fox has cast Thanos himself, Josh Brolin, to play Cable. For month’s rumors have been flying with the most recent being Michael Shannon. However, sources are saying that Brolin inked a 4 film deal to play everyone’s favorite time traveler. This deal includes Deadpool 2, New Mutants and most likely sequels to both franchises.
This will be Brolin’s second Marvel franchise with as many studios. He is already playing the Avenger’s super villain, Thanos, in the upcoming Avengers: Infinity War. Brolin will be joining Ryan Reynolds (Deadpool) and Zazie Beats (Domino) in this sequel which will be directed by David Leitch.
Fan boys and girls may be upset that Brolin has been cast over Avatar’s Stephen Lang, even if Brolin has the stronger resume. Though, nothing is set in stone until Ryan Reynolds (@VancityReynolds) drops an awesome twitter announcement. He is in fact not only Deadpool but also their chief marketing officer (at least should be).
Cable is Marvel’s time traveling mutant who’s real name is Nathan Summers. He posses telepathy, telikinesis, cybernetic enhancments and technopathy. Nathan Summers is also the son of Scott Summers (Cyclops) and Madelyne Pryor (Jean Grey’s Clone). Cable first appeared in Uncanny X-Men #201 (1986) as Nathan Summers and was created by the great Chris Claremont. He first appeared as Cable in New Mutants #87 (1990) and was created by Louise Simonson and the self proclaimed great, Rob Liefeld.
