D23: Black Order Joins Thanos in Infinity Wars

Its been revealed at D23 that when Thanos finally clashes with Earth’s Mightiest Heroes in Avengers: Infinity Wars, he will not be alone.  Joining him will be The Children of Thanos, who are better known in the comics as The Black Order/ The Cull Obsidian.  First appearing in New Avengers #8 (Vol. 3), the Black Order is Thanos’ most faithful followers assembled to aid him in his campain against Earth as part of the Infinity crossover event in 2013.  From left to right (right) is Corvis Glaive, Proxima Midnight, Thanos, Ebony Maw, & Black Dwarf.

Corvis Glaive is Thanos’ second in command.  He possesses enhanced attributes accross the board and his life remains eternal as long as his staff remains in his possession and unbroken.  It’s possible we’ve already seen him a couple of times as “The Other” alongside Thanos in Avengers and Guardians of the Galaxy where he dies at the hands of Ronin the Accuser and could be reanimated via the connection to his weapon or courtesy of the Infinity Gauntlet.  Proxima Midnight is a master combatant with super strength, is nearly impervious, has a powerful spear crafted from a sun by Thanos, and is wife to Corvis Glaive.  Ebony Maw is less of a warrior and more of a master tactician with a genius mind who possesses the power of persuasion.  Lastly is Black Dwarf whom is pretty much a matchup for the Hulk as he is massive, dense, and has super strength and impenetrable skin.  He’s also the brother of Corvis Glaive.  The only original member of The Black Order seemingly left out is Supergiant whom is the Orders resident super-duper telepath.

At this point we don’t know if they will be exactly like their comic book counterparts, nor do we know if they are literally his children like his son Thane or more in line with his adopted and enhanced children Gamora and Nebula.  One thing is for certain, when the dust settles and the smoke clears after the events of Infinity Wars the MCU and Comic Nation will never be the same again.

Comics, movies, television, and games. Everything else is uncivilized.
