ADVANCE REVIEW – “SIDEKICK” #5 – Flyboy Is Spiraling Down!

Sidekick-05-coverFlyboy has been through the wringer in this series – his mentor the Red Cowl was seemingly assasinated in front of his eyes, the public has turned it’s back on him, his attempt at a new career blew up in his face…but the worst is yet to come in this excellent series from J. Michael Straczynski.

There is one thing Flyboy hasn’t found out so far…his mentor is NOT dead!  What would happen to him if he found THAT fact out?  And, who knows enough about the situation to tell him? Is the fact that a Moonglow sister is nearby a good thing?  Flyboy’s life is ready to finally crumble apart here, but it’s the way this plays out that makes the issue a Must-Read.

J. Michael Straczynski has scripted an amazing tale of a hero’s fall from grace.  You know what they say about falls…it’s the landing that really hurts, and that ground zero is coming up fast for Flyboy.   The illustrations are fantastic throughout, with pencils/inks by Tom Mandrake and colors by HiFi.  I’m not sure I share Straczynski’s general distaste for sidekicks…but I am a huge fan of this series.  It’s part of the Joe’s Comics imprint at Image…a lineup of titles that you really should check out.  This one is certainly 5 star…as are just about all the rest of this excellent lineup of titles.
