The 10 Spot: NINJAK, GENERATION ZERO

Our Rating

Welcome once again to THE 10 SPOT – TMStash’s round-up of the very best in Indie comics each week. This week brings us two great books from Valiant – NINJAK #26 and GENERATION ZERO #9! Let’s get started with…

NINJAK #26 (Valiant) – How can a story have so much action and still break your heart? Ninjak has found himself to be the final member of the Shadow Seven, but this group isn’t fairing so well against Master Darque…and there’s a reason why. This is exactly how an arc should end…with all of us as readers wanting more. It’s a great story by Matt Kindt, with stellar artwork by Stephen Segovia with Ulises Arreola. Ninjak has always been a fan-favorite character, but Kindt’s stories take his status up several notches. 10/10

GENERATION ZERO #9 (Valiant) – The town of Rook has been hiding a lot of secrets…enough to challenge even the talented psiots of Gen Zero. We’ve seen huge battles inside the minds of some, and now the battle has flipped to the real world with even greater dangers. Writer Fred Van Lente has given us some amazing battles, and even a bigger twist that should have a major impact on upcoming storylines…and possibly not just for Gen Zero. There are a lot of artists on this issue (Diego Bernard with Fred Benes, Juan Castro, and Alisson Rodriguez, with colors by Andrew Dalhouse), but it works – the artwork is great, as is the story. 10/10

That’s it for this week’s 10 SPOT – but we aren’t done yet with our round-up of great indie books! Be sure to look for PRESSED TO THE 9’s and THE GREAT 8’s for more reviews of amazing indie comics!
