The 10 Spot: KILL OR BE KILLED, DIVINITY III: ESCAPE FROM GULAG 396

Our Rating

Welcome once again to THE 10 SPOT – TMStash’s round-up of the very best in Indie comics each week. This week brings us KILL OR BE KILLED #7 from Image, and DIVINITY III: ESCAPE FROM GULAG 396 #1 from Valiant! Let’s get started with…

KILL OR BE KILLED #7 (Image) – THIS is why I love indie books…especially when you find a creator the level of Ed Brubaker involved. This issue of KILL OR BE KILLED takes a side road to follow Kira…and it is one of the best issues so far. If you are a fan of fully realized characters, of outstanding narrative, of well-woven story threads…mixed with a little murderous mayhem…KILL OR BE KILLED is for you! The creative team is Brubaker, Sean Phillips and Elizabeth Breitweiser – and they have given us a book well worth 10/10.

DIVINITY III: ESCAPE FROM GULAG 396 #1 (Valiant) – The first Valiant book I ever read was Archer & Armstrong #1 from the relaunch of the lineup, and I have always loved the amazing humor of the series. Here you’ll find a very different A&A…but one no less mesmerizing. If anything, Archer’s story becomes even more noble, and his relationship with Armstrong is…not something I’ll spoil here, but oh my it’s great. Eliot Rahal scripts this excellent addition to the DIVINITY III event, with wonderful artwork by Francis Portela and colors by the always outstanding Andrew Dalhouse. 10/10

That’s it for this week’s 10 SPOT – but we aren’t done yet with our round-up of great indie books! Be sure to look for PRESSED TO THE 9’s and THE GREAT 8’s for more reviews of amazing indie comics!
