Welcome once again to THE 10 SPOT – TMStash’s round-up of the very best in Indie comics each week. This week brings us ANIMOSITY #10 and ANIMOSITY: EVOLUTION #1, both from Aftershock, KID LOBOTOMY #1 from Black Crown/IDW, and VAMPIRELLA Vol 4 #7 from Dynamite! This week we include input from mega-reviewer Stacy “Geekey Goddess” Lott! Let’s get started with…
ANIMOSITY #10 (Aftershock) – This is simply one of the best series in comics today. Writer Marguerite Bennett has given us a fully-realized world where animals have become “awake” and can reason and communicate the same as humans. Every eventuality is playing out, making this unbelievable outcome all the more real…and you’ll never think about those friendly little critters who live around you the same way again! Jesse has learned a lot from Sandor, and she will need all of that knowledge and more to get through this next part of her journey. Can’t wait to see what happens next! The artwork by Rafael De Latorre (colors by Rob Schwager) are outstanding – don’t miss this series! 10/10
ANIMOSITY: EVOLUTION #1 (Aftershock) – Review by Stacy “Geeky Goddess” Lott – “Evolution is the story of Jessie’s half bother Adam and the mysterious wolf-malamute hybrid named Wintermute. If you are a fan of this series; which if you’ve even picked up one issue you are, then this new ongoing series is a natural evolution for you. For new readers this is a chance to get on board with an amazing series that will make you really think.” CLICK HERE for Stacy’s FULL take on ANIMOSITY: EVOLUTION! 10/10
KID LOBOTOMY #1 (Black Crown/IDW) – Review by Stacy “Geeky Goddess” Lott – “this new side of IDW is right up my ally. The first book published under Black Crown is undeniably dark, twisted and wicked. Written by Peter Milligan and with art from Rat Queen artist Tess Fowler, Kid Lobotomy #1 has made quite the impression on me.” CLICK HERE for Stacy’s FULL take on KID LOBOTOMY! 10/10
VAMPIRELLA VOL 4 #7 (Dynamite) – Paul Cornell is joined by one of our favorite writers (and friend of the site) Jeremy Whitley in an issue that gives you not one, not two, but more Vampirellas than you can count! This issue resolves the many amazing iterations of this iconic character in a most impressive fashion (but what else would you expect from Cornell and Whitley?). Andy Belanger’s art (with colors from Lee Loughridge) is perfect, handling all the various Vampirella depictions perfectly. If you have ever been a fan, this is your book! 10/10
